CCSVI UPDATE......
Just to let everyone know that during my trip to England a wonderful thing happened. Firstly a lovely woman by the name of Michelle went beyond the call of duty and found a Radiologist more local to us in Miami that was considering doing the procedure, though it would be some months away......
On the basis of this she suggested that my husband go and get the various tests required for this procedure ahead of time so that we would know if there was any blockage in any of the veins. Michelle kindly contacted our own General Practitioner and sent him the necessary protocols required for the test in order to gain the most from the imaging. From this a small snowball of sorts started rolling!
Our wonderful long term G.P called the necessary Imaging Center to request the required tests and to let them know exactly what he wanted in the protocols. As our G.P was decribing to the young man on the other end of the phone what he wanted the young guy replied, "this sounds like the test for CCSVI The Liberation Treatment".
Our Doctor was suprised that he had heard of it and went on to question the young man further. It transpired that he knew of a Radiologist locally that was looking into doing the procedure. To say that this was great news was an undertaking. Our Doctor quickly got from him the name of the Radiologist and promptly called him directly......
The up shot of this is that last week my son and I rounded my husband up and took him to see this Radiologist last week and he has agreed to do the procedure. He took a look at hubbies scans from his neck and it turns out that the left jugler is completely blocked and the right jugler is severly narrowed, more than sixty percent for about five inches or more. Plus he believes there is another blockage elsewhere but will be able to judge better when he does the full procedure......
So the wonderful news is that on the 16 November my husband will be going to have the CCSVI procedure done and it will only be 10 miles from our home. This has all come about in a matter of four weeks which is honestly amazing. My husband is still on waiting lists but it could be months before they get to him and now he is first on the list with a wonderful Radiologist. All parties have asked us to not mention their names until they give us the all clear......
To say that we are happy is to put it mildly, though we are not expecting a miracle cure. For my husband if this just halts the disease then that will be miracle enough, we have learned to be very grateful for very small things and not wish for too much......
I will keep you updated on what happens after the procedure, but for any of those out there suffering from M.S please take moment to look into the CCSVI procedure......
Here are some websites that I have found to be very helpful:
http://www.msrc.co.uk/ this is the website that we first found out about CCSVI.
www.thisisms/forum-40.html this chat room is a fantistic source of reference with many doctors performing the procedure listed......
