Well some days have now passed since our huge disappointment and we are beginning the process of dusting ourselves off. I suppose the hardest thing for us both is mourning the loss of our lives. I know that seems strange to say as we are both still living but on that day nearly eight years ago when my husband was a young 47 years old our life came to a halt as we knew it......
We were never party go'ers and in fact the opposite was true. For us the joy was in a small dinner with dear friends, going to the movies, a nice restaurant or walking with our dog. Simple stuff really but so missed today......
One of the things that I miss the most is walking beside my husband and holding his hand. It is never to be again, the simple pleasures of life become a distant memory and the one thing we have learned from this is never and I mean never put anything off until later on in life. You never know when later on will be gone......
I want to leave you with the words from one of our favourite songs, when we used to listen to these words I never dreamed that my husband would be the one falling behind. I always thought he would be waiting for me......
IF I SHOULD FALL BEHIND by Bruce Springsteen
We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walkin a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me.
We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me.
Now everyone dreams of a love lasting and true
But you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
And I'll wait for you
If I should fall behind
Wait for me.
Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead
There neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
Darlin' I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me......
If you have plans with your husband do it now, don't wait, don't walk, simply run......
